This policy explains what VoteaDate collects when you use voteadate.com, why we collect it, and when we delete it.
The short version
- Anyone with a poll's link can see the names and votes on that poll.
- We delete each poll 60 days after its last date.
- We don't sell your information.
- We don't use advertising or analytics cookies today.
What we collect
If you create a poll
- Your name and email address.
- The event name and the dates and times you offer.
- The email addresses of anyone you ask us to invite. Please only add people who would expect to hear from you.
If you vote
- The name you enter and your answer for each date.
If you unsubscribe
- A scrambled, one-way code made from your email address, so we can make sure we never email you again. We keep it after polls are deleted, because that's what makes opting out last.
When you visit
- Our server briefly uses your IP address to limit spam and abuse. We keep this in memory for up to an hour and don't store it in our logs.
- Our logs record the time, the type of request, the page and the result. Links to individual polls are hidden in those logs.
How we use it
We use this information to run your poll, send your private link, send the invites and final-date emails you ask for, recover your link if you ask, prevent abuse, and keep the site working. We don't send marketing emails, and we don't use guests' email addresses for anything else.
Who can see it
- Anyone with the poll's link can see the event details, the organizer's name, and each person's name and votes. Links are hard to guess, but anyone can forward them, so consider using first names.
- Guests can't see the organizer's email address or each other's.
- VoteaDate's administrator can view, change and delete polls to run the site, answer support requests and remove abuse.
We ask search engines not to list individual polls.
Companies that help us run the site
- Hostinger hosts our server, database and backups.
- Resend delivers our emails, so it receives each recipient's email address and the message.
- Google Fonts supplies the fonts on our pages, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when pages load.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect people or the site from harm.
Cookies
We set one kind of cookie. When you vote, it remembers your vote on that device so you can change it. It stays for up to 180 days. We don't use it to track you across other sites.
Ads and affiliate links may be added to the site later. We'll update this policy before that happens.
When we delete it
- Each poll, along with its votes and all of its email addresses, is deleted 60 days after its last date, or as soon as the organizer deletes it.
- Lost-link recovery links stop working after 7 days.
- Deleted information can stay in our backups until those backups expire.
Your choices
- Every guest email has an unsubscribe link, which stops all VoteaDate emails to that address.
- Organizers can delete their poll at any time.
- To see, correct or delete your information, email support@bringalist.com. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local law, and you can use this address to exercise them.
Children
VoteaDate is for adults organizing events, and it isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their information. If you're a parent and believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections, and we store private links only in scrambled form. No website is perfectly secure, so please don't put sensitive information in a poll.
Where your information is stored
Our server is in the United States.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date above.
